Reflecting on the Resurrection Part 1
Everyday life continues after the celebration of the Resurrection. What difference does the Resurrection make? Reflect on these thoughts:
1. This event is foundational to Christian belief.
Other religious leaders died, were buried, and remain in their graves. Jesus Christ is the only one who rose from the grave by the power of God. Jesus was both human and divine.
Romans 1:3-4 says of Jesus, “who as to his human nature was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”
This is the central declaration of the Church. Without the resurrection, you don’t have Christianity. With the resurrection, you have everything!
2. The Resurrection proves God’s love for us.
God did not leave us alone in our sin. He resolved our sin problem through His love. Jesus died as an atonement for our sin, which He did out of amazing of love for us.
John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
3. The Resurrection brings new life.
Spring brings new life from the ground and new birth in the world. However, the most impressive change is a hardened heart transformed with hope, love and a new perspective. The gospel is about life transformation. It is not a self-improvement program.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says “If anyone is in Christ , he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
4. The Resurrection brings forgiveness.
Enduring the pain, Jesus spoke forgiveness of sin for all of us.
In agony while on the cross Jesus spoke, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34.
But it is our decision to accept His forgiveness through our humble repentance.
Be in awe of Easter.
Linger on the blessings that are ours because of the Resurrection: the core belief for Christian faith, God’s love, new life, and forgiveness. (click here to tweet)
I enjoy the chocolate and jellybeans of Easter, but they’ll soon be gone. The power of the Resurrection lives.
