Reflections on the Resurrection

Consider these additional blessings as a result of the Resurrection:

1. The Resurrection brings us triumph over death.

We do not have to fear death. We can look forward to a future in heaven because of the Resurrection. Sin and death were conquered through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus.

I Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Before his journey to the cross, Jesus gave these words of hope: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25

2.  The Resurrection completed Redemption’s plan.

Old Testament law demanded continual sacrifice for redemption. In the new covenant, salvation is complete through the provision of the perfect sacrifice, Jesus. Sin has been atoned for; sacrifice no longer has to made because God loved us so much that He provided the sacrifice.

Hebrews 10: 18 says “And these (sins) have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.

3. The Resurrection demonstrates the power of God’s grace to bring us back into relationship with God.

The sin barrier that separated God and man was removed.  We can approach Him through confession and repentance.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 says “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting mens sins against them.”

4. We can live with God’s power.

Ephesians 1:19 promises “his incomparably great power for us who believe.” The same power that raised Christ from the dead is the power that God will use in the believer’s life. I have a hard to fully understanding this! But I am thankful that when I feel defeated or burned out, the power of God strengthens and renews me

On that Resurrection morning, the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid and yet filled with joy. Suddenly Jesus met them as they ran to tell the disciples. He stopped them in their tracks with the power of the resurrection.  Their response?  “They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him.” (Matthew 28:9)

With both fear and joy in their hearts, they worshipped the risen Lord.

Many blessings are ours because of the Resurrection: triumph over death, redemption, grace that unites us with God, and power to live in victory.
